Snake River Trip

Last Saturday we headed up to Rupert/Burley Idaho with a friend that lives near us and some friends that live in Idaho. Every year they get together to boat on the river, swim, golf, camp, eat good food and play Holy Board and this year we were lucky enough to get invited to join them.

On Saturday after we got there and got everything set up we got some lunch and the boys went golfing while the girls and the kids went swimming at the city pool. Then we went to a delicious authentic chinease restaurant that was so yummy then headed back to the trailers to play Holy Board which I will explain later. Then on Sunday we went boating on their pontoon boat which was so fun! I couldn't help but think of the pontoon song, which you can listen to here. They had a tube that fit 3 people so me and Brooklyn went with Melanie & Michelle. That was Brooklyn's first time tubing. She didn't cry and was pretty content so I  think she enjoyed it :), Then we bbq'd hamburgers and ate some lunch on the beach. Right after lunch it started to rain pretty hard so we chilled under the canopy in the boat and floated down the river admiring the beautiful houses that were along the shore.
Brooklyn was pretty tired by the time we were done so Brett and I headed back to put her to bed, while the others took the boat back and grabbed something to eat. While they were still gone. Brett and I watched the sunset in the back of his truck and went looking for some frogs around the pond so we could catch one for Brooklyn but we never did see any.
Monday we went out for a yummy breakfast, the boys went golfing, I chilled around the campsite reading a magazine and whatever while Brooklyn took a nap then had some girl talk with Sheryl, Melanie, and Michelle, while the little girls were playing. When the boys got done we met them at a Mexican restaurant, that Brett and I happend to stop at on our way home from Washington after our Alaskan Cruise and ended up loving it. Then went to see Melanie and Zack's house. They have an awesome 12 acres, which they farm. Lots of chickens, ducks, two baby kittens that they have been bottle feeding because the mom abandoned them, a pygmy goat who is hilarious and will run and jump with the kids, a huge St. Bernard, and 2 chiwawas. And that night we had another Holy Board tournament...Brett and I definitely need some practice.
Then on Tuesday after Breakfast we packed up and headed home.
We had such a great time and hope that we get to go back next year. Here are some pictures from the trip.
 Our camp spot

This is the Holy Board board. In a nutshell...there are two teams. Each hole has a point value and the goal is to get to 21 by tossing the washers into the hole. If you go over 21 you have to go back to the number of points you had before and try again. If somebody lands on your washer that is already in the hole they steal your points plus get theirs.

I had to post this picture cause I thought it was so cute. We asked the waiter if we could get a Nacho Dulses for dessert and he said he wasn't sure what that was, but if I explained it to him he would try and make it and this is what he made us. What a sweet guy for doing his best to understand what I was trying to describe!!

What We've Been Up To

We have been going a hundred miles per hour these past few weeks and I love it! There's just something about summer that makes me sooo happy! My husband, who works outside in the heat everyday  would disagree, but even HE has been having some fun in the sun.
Here are some pictures of a few things that have been going on with us.

Cherry Hill...

Don't mind my face in this picture, I look terrified for some reason. :) Brooklyn loved this slide and even went down it on her own.

We had so much fun and Brooklyn loved the big kiddy pool. We took her down the big tube slides that they have and she had a love/hate reaction to it. She loved the slide overall, but hated the sudden drop off in the middle.

4th Of July...

Brooklyn slept in so she had to eat breakfast in the car on the way to the parade.

Walking to the parade.

Waiting for the parade to start

...Still waiting for the parade to start.

We met some friends at Boston's for lunch. The Holt's had two little boys that were so cute with Brooklyn. We had the outside patio all to ourselves so they got to run around and play. By the time we left to go home Brooklyn was so tired. This picture is her throwing a fit on the way home.

Luckily her baby brought her a little comfort :)

We all took a nap then had pulled beef sandwiches, corn on the cob, and pineapple lime salad for dinner. We headed outside just in time to catch a BEAUTIFUL sunset and lit sparklers then watched the neighbors light their fireworks from our deck. They actually put on a pretty good show! :)

Camping...

On Friday we went camping up on Monte with my family minus Chase and my mom's two brothers and their families. Her brothers each have two kids so Brooklyn had a lot of fun.

Who needs a boy when you've got Brooklyn the dirt lover :)

Landon swinging in what he calls "the spider web hammock". He is so stinkin cute! He is always saying the funniest things, but one of the cutest I thought was when he was going to pick a flower and he found a fuzzy white dandelion and called it a "make a wish flower".

20 Months

Brooklyn turned 20 months old yesterday and we couldn't be having more fun with her! Here are a few fun facts about her at 20 months:

  • She loves to wave to people. It doesn't matter if we're walking down the street, sitting in sacrament, or walking through the grocery store she's always waving to someone and if they don't wave back then she'll say "Hi" and wave so that they hear here and wave back. In the words of my aunt..she's very personable.
  • She loves to help me with whatever I'm doing. She always wants me to hold her while I'm cooking so that she can see whats going on, she loves to help me vacuum and dust, & she loves to dig in the dirt when I'm doing yard work. When she's at Grandpa Millers she likes to help him pick raspberries in their garden.
  • She is always getting into something, whether it's the spice drawer, the tupperware drawer, or getting the mixing spoons and bowls out to pretend like she is stirring. She's always getting her books off the shelf to look at them, and she loves taking the cookbooks of the shelf. Lately she's been into wearing my high heals around the house and putting on what we call lippy (lip gloss). Sometimes I'll catch her combing her hair and pretending like she is spraying hair spray. I love that she is all girl!!
  • She says a lot of words and will repeat almost anything she hears. Some of her more recent ones are: bucket, diaper, glasses, & hippo. Some of my faverites are "um" which means she wants some, and when we walk into a dark room I would always say "ooeeoo" so now when its dark she'll say "weeooweeoo" and when she hear the ice machine one the fridge she'll say "ice".
  • She's starting to be able to climb up on furnature.
  • She loves going boating, swimming, and playing with the hose or her bucket full of water.
  • She still LOVES rocks and always has to pick them up whenever she walks by some.
She gets more fun everyday and for the most part is such a good girl. We love this little lady and feel that it is bitter sweet that she is growing so fast.
