Christmas as a Miller

We had a great Christmas this year (as we always do), but this one was extra special because we got to celebrate it with Brooklyn. We surprisingly didn't have any family Christmas parties on either side of our families this year, but Christmas Eve Eve, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day were filled with fun activities, parties, family, and food!

We made gingerbread houses...

Visited Cousin's...
Met new cousin's for the first time...

I didn't get any pictures of Christmas Eve, but every year we go to Brett's parents for dinner and a game of Chicken Foot. This year we also threw in a game of "Curses", which was hilarious to play with his 83 year old grandma. Also, Brett's sister and her family flew in from California to celebrate Christmas in Utah. This is a picture of Brooklyn meeting her cousin Ava for the first time. They are only 4 months apart so we are so excited to get them together to play when they get a little older.

Visited more cousins...

There were 5 of us who had babies from May to October in Brett's family. Don't ask me what I was doing with Brooklyn's poor little head. I guess I thought "all the other babies can hold their head up, why cant she?" haha
Spent time with Papa Young...

...and with family!

It doesn't get any better than that!

What a Beautiful World We Live In

My mom sent me this video and I absolutely love it! Everything that God created in this world is amazing to me and I know that he did it so that we would have something to enjoy and inspire us. Life gets so busy sometimes and I know I forget to look at where I live and how beautiful it is. Brett and I were driving the other day and I couldn't help but notice how beautiful the snow covered mountains were with the light of the sunset reflecting off of them. I'm grateful that my Heavenly Father created such a beautiful world for me. Enjoy!

Brett's Trips

In November Brett got invited to go pheasant hunting in South Dakota with some friends. Pheasant hunting is one of his favorite hobbies so he was excited he got to go and take our dog Koda.
Then, the first part of December he flew to Alabama for a convention with a friend he knows through landscaping. They got to stay at a really nice resort where they got to golf after the classes. Unfortunately they had to golf in the pouring rain, but the trip was all paid for so you can't beat that!

Can't Get Enough Pictures

It's amazing how much Brooklyn grows EVERYDAY! When we first brought her home she didn't fit into any of her clothes because she was so small so I went and bought her some preemie pj's and she only got to wear them once or twice before she grew out them in about a weeks time. Were not complaining though! We are so glad that she is growing!
Here are some more pictures...
She loves to hold her head up and look around, sometimes it gets to heavy and it will flop right back down. She can also turn her head from side to side while laying on her tummy.
It is so fun to see her awake and look into her big beautiful eyes! She doesn't open them very often right now, so when she does it's always a treat!
She loves loves getting her hair washed! She prefers it under the faucet rather than in the bath!
We love the cute crochet'd hats Great Grandma Linda made, perfect for winter!

Brooklyn's Big Debut

So I am finally writing our story of the day Brooklyn was born. On Saturday October 30 Brett and I were just taking it easy. I made us "Eggs in a Frame" for breakfast...Brett checked on his employees who were working...we went to Cal Ranch to look for work clothes for Brett, then to his shop to check on a few things and to the carpet place to pay for our carpet that would go in the baby's room sometime the next week and drove up to the valley to talk to our friend Joe and look at the house he was building then headed home. It was overcast and cool outside and we were kind of bummed that we didn't have any plans for Halloween night. Lame we know :) (Which, for future reference was celebrated on the 30th this year since the 31st was a Sunday.) I went to Kwal paint to pick out a paint color to paint the nursery while Brett watched football. When I got home Brett had the fabulous idea of going to dinner at the Prairie Schooner. So...we drove to the restaurant, ordered steak and prime rib (which we were really looking forward too). We were eating our salads and bread and drinking our hot chocolate and coke all while looking at a baby who was dressed up in the cutest bunny costume and talking about if we were ready to become parents in about 3-1/2 weeks, going over some of the names we were thinking of naming her, and about how I hope that I'm at home and not in public if my water breaks...all of a sudden, at about that very moment, I felt two, what seemed to be gushes of water! I tried not to think anything of it, because come on...how ironic would that be! I felt my pants and sure enough, soaked! I looked at Brett and said "I think my water just broke." Brett: "Are you being serious!?!" So he helped me to the bathroom and I called my mom freaking out asking her what I should do, while Brett was pacing back and forth in the lobby. We decided to hurry to the hospital and as we were leaving Brett told the hostess, "My wife's water just broke and we have to leave, will you tell the waitress that we're sorry?" The hostess was really nice, wished us luck and we got out of there with free salads, bread, and drinks...not too shabby! It seemed like we hit every red light on the way to the hospital and we were both trying not to worry, but it was hard because I wasn't due for about another month. We made it to the hospital and Brett wheeled me up to Labor & Delivery, I have to say, I had never ridden in a wheelchair..kinda fun. They had me change into a gown and were just going to check and see if it was amniotic fluid that I was leaking, but decided that they better put me in a delivery room instead once they saw how much water I had lost. We got all situated in the room and I was dilated just over 1 cm. Brett called our parents. At that time I was beginning to think about how we were sooo not ready as far as having her room done, and being packed for the hospital stay, etc. Brett's parents came up to the hospital to see how things were going and picked me up some necessities from our house on the way. They didn't stay long because Mark had just gotten home from Germany that morning and had been up for 30 hours and we thought that I wouldn't have her till the next morning anyway. My family said that they were going to go to Haunted Hallow then be up. Chase had his face painted for halloween and everything.
The nurse said that they weren't going to put me on Pitocin until the next morning, but I was dilating about 1 cm an hour so I didn't even bother. We got to the hosptial around 7:30pm, was dilated to a 6 at 1:15am and went from a 6 to a 10 in an hour. It all went by really fast for me. Itwas fun to have my family there to take our mind off how worried we were. Brett was so awesome and strong the whole time! We kept looking at each other from time to time not believing that we were going to come home from our dinner date with a baby!
Fast forwarding to 3:15am..everything went really well and on October 31st our precious little girl came into our world. She was as healthy as can be and weighed 5 lbs 11 oz and was 18-3/4in. long. She has lots of brown hair and beautiful blue/green eyes.

New Post Announcement

Just so you're aware..I'm working on posting a post about Brooklyn. I haven't forgotten, it's just taken me a while to get all our pictures downloaded to the computer. Who would have thought that being a new mom would be a full time job? haha So far she has been a great baby, its so fun to interact with her when she has her eyes open! For now I just want to thank mine and Brett's family for all their help while we were in the hospital and while Brett was out of town! We don't know what we would do without you...probably shrivel up and die! :) Thank you so so much for everything...WE LOVE YOU!!

Fun Week

I have been terrible at keeping my camera with me, hence the lack of postings, but this past week I got a few pictures of some of the fun stuff we've done.
Last Monday I went with my mom to Gardner Village (if you have never been I highly recommend it for a fun "girls day" especially around Halloween time when they have all the witches out). My aunt and her sister-in-law ended being down there as well, so we had a delicious lunch with them at the cute cafe.

These are just two of the many cute witches that were out and about.
They have so many cute shops and things to look at. My mom and I got our toes festively (is that a word?)painted for Halloween, which I wish I had gotten a picture of.

We could have played dress up all day, not only did they have these cute old fashioned hats, but cute dresses to go with them!
Thank you mom for a wonderful time, I always love spending the day with you!

On Thursday my cute husband took me fishing up at East Canyon is his fishing/duck hunting boat. We caught about 8 fish, including an albino trout! Not only did we see fish, but we had a bald eagle fly over us and on our way home we were stopped by a huge moose crossing the road and then 4 dear. How cool it is to live in Utah and see this much wildlife in one night! I love it! Again, I am terrible at remembering to take pictures so I only got a couple. We tried to take a picture of the moose, but it didn't turn out on our camera :(

Isn't he the best looking fisherman!

Alaskan Fishing Trip

For Brett's dads birthday last year (Sept 2009), Mark surprised Brett, his brother Lance and our brother-in-law Ryan with a guys fishing trip to Alaska in Aug. 2010 . Kind of odd that he wanted to surprise them with such a GREAT gift when it was his birthday, but that's just how Brett's parents are...family means most to them! Last year in September it seemed like next August was so far away, but here we are and looking back it FLEW BY! They had beautiful weather, amazing food, made great memories that will last a life time, and brought their wives back some awesome fresh fish! Thank you Mark and Jeanie for giving Brett that opportunity! We Love You!

Here are some pictures from their trip...
