Brooklyn's Big Debut

So I am finally writing our story of the day Brooklyn was born. On Saturday October 30 Brett and I were just taking it easy. I made us "Eggs in a Frame" for breakfast...Brett checked on his employees who were working...we went to Cal Ranch to look for work clothes for Brett, then to his shop to check on a few things and to the carpet place to pay for our carpet that would go in the baby's room sometime the next week and drove up to the valley to talk to our friend Joe and look at the house he was building then headed home. It was overcast and cool outside and we were kind of bummed that we didn't have any plans for Halloween night. Lame we know :) (Which, for future reference was celebrated on the 30th this year since the 31st was a Sunday.) I went to Kwal paint to pick out a paint color to paint the nursery while Brett watched football. When I got home Brett had the fabulous idea of going to dinner at the Prairie Schooner. So...we drove to the restaurant, ordered steak and prime rib (which we were really looking forward too). We were eating our salads and bread and drinking our hot chocolate and coke all while looking at a baby who was dressed up in the cutest bunny costume and talking about if we were ready to become parents in about 3-1/2 weeks, going over some of the names we were thinking of naming her, and about how I hope that I'm at home and not in public if my water breaks...all of a sudden, at about that very moment, I felt two, what seemed to be gushes of water! I tried not to think anything of it, because come on...how ironic would that be! I felt my pants and sure enough, soaked! I looked at Brett and said "I think my water just broke." Brett: "Are you being serious!?!" So he helped me to the bathroom and I called my mom freaking out asking her what I should do, while Brett was pacing back and forth in the lobby. We decided to hurry to the hospital and as we were leaving Brett told the hostess, "My wife's water just broke and we have to leave, will you tell the waitress that we're sorry?" The hostess was really nice, wished us luck and we got out of there with free salads, bread, and drinks...not too shabby! It seemed like we hit every red light on the way to the hospital and we were both trying not to worry, but it was hard because I wasn't due for about another month. We made it to the hospital and Brett wheeled me up to Labor & Delivery, I have to say, I had never ridden in a wheelchair..kinda fun. They had me change into a gown and were just going to check and see if it was amniotic fluid that I was leaking, but decided that they better put me in a delivery room instead once they saw how much water I had lost. We got all situated in the room and I was dilated just over 1 cm. Brett called our parents. At that time I was beginning to think about how we were sooo not ready as far as having her room done, and being packed for the hospital stay, etc. Brett's parents came up to the hospital to see how things were going and picked me up some necessities from our house on the way. They didn't stay long because Mark had just gotten home from Germany that morning and had been up for 30 hours and we thought that I wouldn't have her till the next morning anyway. My family said that they were going to go to Haunted Hallow then be up. Chase had his face painted for halloween and everything.
The nurse said that they weren't going to put me on Pitocin until the next morning, but I was dilating about 1 cm an hour so I didn't even bother. We got to the hosptial around 7:30pm, was dilated to a 6 at 1:15am and went from a 6 to a 10 in an hour. It all went by really fast for me. Itwas fun to have my family there to take our mind off how worried we were. Brett was so awesome and strong the whole time! We kept looking at each other from time to time not believing that we were going to come home from our dinner date with a baby!
Fast forwarding to 3:15am..everything went really well and on October 31st our precious little girl came into our world. She was as healthy as can be and weighed 5 lbs 11 oz and was 18-3/4in. long. She has lots of brown hair and beautiful blue/green eyes.
