Big Girl Bed

I hesitate to do a post on this because I am someone who believes that I am always jinxing myself by saying something out loud (or even thinking it), but I'm going to do it any way.

We bought Brooklyn a bedroom set back in October and have been saving it because she still slept so well in her crib, but two weeks ago we bought a mattress for the bed and decided to just go for it. I had heard horror stories by parents about switching their toddler over so I was a little nervouse, but from the very first night SHE LOVED IT!! I may have cried a little when we were setting it up and moving the crib to the babies room and while seeing her sleep in a big girl bed for the first time, because I really don't want my baby to grow up! :( But with Brett's uplifting words I realized that it's part of life and that it should be more of a happy time. I can't imagine what I'm going to be like the first time she goes to school! AHHH!
I had made her a patch quilt and she was always helping me with it, so she was excited when we got to put on her new bed. She always nuzzled her head up against her crib bumpers so I thought it would be a good idea to stuff some pillows against the headboard and the wall so it would feel kind of the same. It's always fun to go in to check on her and find her in different positions (she was always a wild sleeper in her crib). And being the paranoid mom that I am, since she never liked to sleep with covers on I would always put her in a onsie and fleece footie pajamas, which I think when we switched her to her new bed she was climbing out of her covers to fall asleep cause she was too hot.

Naps lately have been kind of a struggle. Of course she couldn't 100% love to sleep in her bed 100% of the time, but for the most part she has done/ is doing great and we couldn't be more proud of her!!

Here are some pictures we've gotten of her in her new bed during the last few weeks..

Brett thinks I'm so weird, but I had to get a picture of her sleeping in her crib for the last time.

Her new quilt.

Valentines Day and Brooklynisms

Valentines Day

For Valentines Day we made a yummy dinner of steak, twice baked potatoes, salad, & Molten Lava Cake and ate it in the candlelight. Brooklyn was such a big helper and loved the idea of eating in the light of 2 big birthday candles! We loved sharing our candlelight dinner with our sweet girl!

I enlarged this picture so that you could see Brooklyn trying to blow out the candle.

Here are our Valentines goodies.
I am so thankful for the people in my life who I can love and know that I am loved back!
I am one lucky lady!!

Brooklynisms

One of the highlights of having a 2 year old is listening to their vocabulary expand and the way they make up words. Here are some of Brooklyn's funny works lately...

  • "Fisk it" for "fix it"
  • When we go to the hospital for my Dr. appointments she loves to ride the "alligator" (elevator).
  • She calls the game "twister" "rooster" - it took me a while to figure out what she was saying on that one :)
  • Her pom poms are her "com coms" or her "webers"

  • And the other day she walked in and said "I'm crying, hold you."
Gotta love her!!
