Hunstville Half Marathon

Last Saturday I ran the Hunstville Half Marathon, aka the Full Monte (should be called the Half Monte for the half haha). This is the 3rd year that they've done this marathon and my first time running it. It was a beautiful coarse and I loved that it started at 9:30! I got to sleep in till 7:00, which was really nice considering that that is usually when other races start. It was POURING rain for the first 4 miles. I was SO happy that I grabbed my sport rain coat as I was heading out the door, because without that I would have been soaked to the bone. It was kind of fun to run in the rain and it smelled amazing, but then again I had to run another 9 miles in soggy shoes...yuk! It wasn't cold at all, which was nice! I think I'd take running in the rain rather than the cold any day. After it cleared up a bit I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery. I ran it by myself so I was able to run my own pace which was kind of nice and I had my family at the end to look forward to. My parents suprised me when I had 3 miles left to go and cheered me on when I needed it most, anddddd I got to shred some of my clothing and give it to them.
I finished it in a minute less than my last half, which was about 5 years ago, at 1hr and 48min which put me at an average pace of 8.16/mile. It was hard and fun at the same time. And even though Brett and the kids didn't make it there until after I finished (insert tear drops here...kids are hard to get out of the house in a timely manner when you're not the one used to getting them ready and out the door :) it was so fun to have them there! I plan on running the Ogden half in May and hope to finish it in 1:45 (hope I can make my goal!)

We went to my parents for a bit afterward then went home to shower and take a quick nap then headed back up to the Valley. Brett and the kids stayed with my dad and had pizza, watched Sleeping Beauty and played while my mom and I went to the Womens Broadcast. It was so awesome and fun to share it with my sweet mom!

I must say, it was a GOOD DAY!

4-wheeling in the Razor

Brett an I thought it would be fun to rent a razor for the day to take the kids 4-wheeling. So, last Wednesday that is what we did. We had so much fun and the kids loved it! Brooklyn loved going fast. When Brett would slow down to go down a hill Brooklyn would say "Why are you not going fast?!" Stetson was pretty chill about it and would get a big grin on his face one in a while. He even got a good nap while we were riding. We tried to fit the carseats in but there was no room for their feet once we got them in so Brooklyn sat in the back seat, which turned out to be perfect! The netting for the door was taller than she was so she didn't get hit by branches and we weren't worried about her falling out. Between the two seats in the front in back was a small seat that sat higher than the others and had a five point harness, so we put Stetson in front with us which worked out really well. We picked it up around 9:30am and drove to Mantua and rode up to Willard Peak where the view was beautiful. On our way down we explored a bit and saw some beautiful fall leaves and had a little pic-nic. After we got back to the truck we went home so the kids (and Brett) could take a nap then we went out again around 5:00. This time we went back to Mantua but went on the Avon loop, which Brett rides frequently on his dirt bike. It was a way fun loop with lots of whoopty doos. Brooklyn and I were riding in the back and couldn't stop laughing cause we were having so much fun! (How often does a grown up get to say that?) We got back to the truck just as it was getting dark then we headed to Maadox drive in for dinner. Such a fun day...we might just have to get us one!!! :)

Stetson turns 18 Months

Stetson turned 18 months old on the 9th! Of coarse I would like to freeze him at this age, he's so fun, but I know that I can't so I guess I will just enjoy it to the fullest!

About him:

• He loves tractors! He has a tractor calendar in his room and every morning he wakes up and says "tractor" in his baby acsent of coarse :)
• He eats everything (I hope he stays that way)
• He loves his milk! He drinks atleast 4 cups a day
• He loves to be outside following Brett around, throwing dog food into the dogs water, swinging, going down the slide, digging in the dirt, petting the dogs, going for walks or a wagon ride or a ride in the bike trailer,etc.
• He can say "tractor""horse""shoe""done", he knows what a sheep, cow, lion, snake, and elephant say.
• He has started to throw some tantrums, which are usually easy to stop by distracting him with something. He will throw his head back on the ground no matter where he is; asphalt, tile, dirt, doesn't matter. Not a very smart thing to do and often times I get scared that he is going to get a goose ache. He has gotten a little smarter after smacking the back of his head while doing it a couple of times and will now put his head back slowly. Haha
• Him and Brooklyn play together occasionally, but he is learning how to torment her..uh oh, here we go! The times that they are cute together make up for the times that they are fighting.
• He wakes up around 8 am, naps at 10 & 2, and goes to bed at 8.
• He loves nursery
• He's sometimes shy around strangers and other times he a social butterfly
• He's a mama's boy
• Brett loves taking him for rides on his tractor, taking him to guy stores (IFA, Smith & Edwards), having him follow him around in the garage (when he's not whining for mom)
• I love snuggling him and making him laugh
