December Happenings

Brooklyn had fun making snow angels and attempting to make a snow ball from the powdery snow..

The kids had their first bath together...they loved it!..

We went to 25th street and saw santa and ate a yummy authentic Mexican restaurant in Ogden, recommended by one of Brett's employees..

Brooklyn and I had fun doing her kiwi crate this month. We made a polar bear toss complete with ears, and winter windo clings..

We made Christmas trees with my parents...

...and this little guy has been rolling back and forth from his back to his tummy like crazy.

(yes, that is blood all over him. He chewed through
two bandaids after getting his thumb poked. Looks
like we have a vampire on our hands)

About Stetson at 9 months:

  • His top left lateral inciser has come in 2nd to his bottom right front tooth. (weird order, his left bottom front is so close to popping through)
  • We are transitioning from 3 naps to 2 and from breast to bottle. (I am drying up just like I did with Brooklyn at this age)
  • He as been moving around more: occasionally sleeping on his side, changing directions in his crib, going from a sitting position to his knees to his stomach. No crawling yet, but I think he is getting close!
  • He loves baby cereal and prunes and as of recently refuses to eat pureed veggies and is anxious to move on to stage 3 foods.
This little guy is very busy and can be very vocal, but other times he's super calm and observant. He's a stinker and a sweety all at the same time, I can't wait to see what his personality turnes out to be. He is already much more snuggly than Brooklyn ever was..yay! We love him so so much and can't imagine our life without him in our family!

Soaking Up Fall

First off, please excuse my hiddious, unmatching blog design. I was messing around with some different templates and ended up messing it up and I haven't had time to get it all back to pretty. So, if you will, excuse that and just focus on my post. Haha

These last couple of weeks we have had a lot of fun doing some fall activities. We have tried to soak up all the nice falls days before it turns cold. Here are some pictures...

Stetson 7 1/2 Months

About STETSON at 7 1/2 months since I missed his 7 month mark :)...

  • He's sitting up all by himself
  • He now goes to sleep without being swaddled
  • He loves to hold his blankie and suck his thumb when going to sleep
  • He's slept through the night 10-8, 7-6, 9-7:30 a handful of times
  • Insists on going to bed between 6 & 6:30pm
  • I have to keep him in zip up jammies because he'll kick one of his feet out of the snap up ones
  • He loves drinking from a sippy cup (leftover formula after using some to mix with his cereal)
  • He has the highest pitch scream, whether its a scream of excitment or a scream of frustration
  • He has the sweetest little laugh I have ever heard, maybe I'm just biased :) See below

We LOVE our Stetters and are so grateful that he belongs to our family!!

Yellowstone

Well, I'm finally posting about our Yellowstone trip that we went on back in August with my family and Grandma and Grandpa on my dad's side.
We stopped in Idaho Falls to pick up the cabin key from Brett's grandparents and visitied with them for a while. It was the first time they had seen Stetson.

We spent the first night at the sight of the cabin, which is right across from Palisades Dam. It was more like a river because it was so low, but it's absolutly beautiful up there! I really hope we can spend more time up there in the years to come. Brooklyn was just like I was when I was little and was facinated with the curly stairs. We had a yummy breakfast the next morning then headed to our camp site in Yellowstone making a few stops along the way, one of which was at a pullout just in front of the Tetons where we had lunch and took a much needed nap. Gotta love a trailer for the very reason that you can stop anywhere, make lunch, take a quick nap, and be on your way :) The next two days we spent driving around the park. We saw awesome waterfalls, 2 big buffalo right on the road, and 2 bull elk walk 10 from our trailer. We got to canoe in a really pretty lake as well.

We stopped at Bear World on the way home. Brooklyn loved riding in the front see with me and looking at all the animals as well as going to the petting zoo and feeding the animals.

6 Month Checkup

Stetson's checkup went well. The doctor said that everything looks good, except for his head is not as round as he wanted it to be at this point in time. He said that he thinks it is borderline to needing a helmet and suggested that we have a consultation with the helmet doctor to see if he thinks he needs one or not.

Here are his 6 Month Stats:

Wt: 18 lbs 14oz 72%
Ht: 27" 60%
HC: 44.5 cm 79%

Stetson at 6 Months

About Stetson at 6 months:

  • He's found his toes and as of recently has been able to suck on them.
  • Explores everything by seeing how it tastes :)
  • He's a happy baby and is content sitting in the jumperoo or playing on the ground with his toys, but doesn't like to be left alone very long.
  • Fits into 9 month clothes
  • Is able to sit up for a little bit using his hands to prop himself up and loves to be held in the standing position and jump with his little chubby legs
  • Still spits up every so often, usually after a big meal or after I have eaten something that doesn't agree with his stomach
  • Has been exploring his voice by making loud squeals rather than babbles
  • Still doesn't sleep through the night
  • Has been eating rice cereal and squash and LOVES pears
  • He is pretty good at taking small naps in his carseat if we are at church or in the car
  • Has figured out how to hold on to mommy's hair :)
  • Wakes up around 7:30, takes a two hour nap about an hour after waking, then 2 more 1 - 2 hour naps during the day and likes to go to bed super early around 6:30. At night he usually wakes up either at 12 ish to eat then usually again around 2:30, but I usually just reswaddle him and he'll fall back asleep.
  • He's very observent and loves to socialize
We go to the doctor next Wednesday for his 6 month check up so I will post his growth stats afterward.

It's That Time Again...Starting Solids

Stetson had his first taste of Rice Cereal this afternoon. He seemed to like it, but of course needs to work on not pushing it out with his tongue. He was so cute though! Next time Brett is home to watch I'll have him video :) Maybe this will help with getting him so sleep through the night fingers crossed!

5 Month Old Little Boy

About Stetson at 5 months:

  • His little personality is coming out more and more.
  • He loves to sqeal, laugh, coo, fake cough, and screech
  • He has started reaching for his toys when they are placed in front of him and loves to swat at the ones that are on his swing. And is trying to figure how to grab on to them.
  • He loves to sit in his bouncer and kick the dangling fish although he doesn't get to sit in it much since we are still trying to keep him off his head as much as possible while he is awake.
  • He has started taking a bottle again, which is nice if Brett and I ever want to go on a date, and will even take formula sometimes, BUT we haven't found one that doesn't upset his stomach yet, good thing nursing is still going good.
  • He's in 9 month clothes
  • He is still so easy going and such a joy to hold and be around. We just love his chubbiness!
  • He STILL wakes up once or twice a night, but just to eat and goes right back to sleep.

4 Month Old Stetson

 excuse the blury picture

4 Month Stats
Ht: 25.75" 66%
Wt: 16.1 lbs 34%
HC: 42cm 64%

Our little guy is growing and developing at a rapid rate these days. Within the last month he has found his hands and sucks wildly on them. I love when I catch him holding hands with him self so cute! I even caught him sucking his thumb when I went in to get him from his nap the other day. We may have another thumb sucker on our hands folks!

He holds his head up well enough to sit in the Bumbo and enjoys being on his belly propped up by a pillow, which is good because we really need his flat head to round back out before his 6th month appointment or we may be seeing the helmut doctor. Yikes! He LOVES bath time so much that he almost jumps out of his whale tub in excitement. He is starting to get distracted easily while eating, which is a bummer for me. He loves when Brooklyn talks to him and makes him smile and he loves to watch her dance around the room. He also loves being with his daddy maybe he'll be a daddy's boy.
He has dropped his 11:00pm feeding and only wakes up once during the night, usually around 4:30am. He wakes up around 7:30 and goes to bed around 7:30 on a good day. Lately he has had trouble settling down for bed time. For the most part he is pretty easy going.
I couldn't imagine my life without him right now. I have found that a mother's love for their sons is different from the love they have for their daughters. I don't know how to explain it, but I feel very lucky that I have one of each so that I can experience the difference.

We love our little Stetson to pieces and are enjoying every single second with him.
