We kicked off Brooklyn's birthday week by having a Pumpkin themed birthday party with our immediate family (and Brett's Grandma and Grandpa Jones who stopped by for a bit on there way to a funeral).
She opened presents and got lots of fun new toys including: a Mr. & Mrs Potato Head set, a Carhart jacket, a tape player for her books on tape, & a set of cute colorful belts from Brett and I; a Barbie stuffed animal dog that comes with all kinds of veterinary things inside a cute bag from uncle Chase and soon-to-be aunt Taylor; a Minnie dress up doll from uncle Wes; a cute little "Adorable Abby" doll and a vacuum from my parents; and a talking baby with an extra pair of clothes from Brett's parents. She was in heaven with all these new toys. We got lots of video of her opening her presents, which she was so cute at doing! For instance, she would take one piece of tissue paper out of the bag or tear off one piece of wrapping peper and hand it to grandma then go back and get another.
For dinner we had Dinner in a Pumpkin/Pumpkin shaped pizza, breadsticks, salad, Caramel Toffee fruit dip with apples and grapes, and punch.
After we ate we let her play with her toys for a bit then brought out another gift that Brett and I were supper excited to give her...her very own Brooklyn size trampoline. She is always jumping and will hold on to her crib rails and jump up and down so we thought this would be the perfect gift, I would say it was a success...
The video I tried to upload of her jumping on it wouldn't work at the momemt. It is pretty funny so I will try and upload it again when I get another minute.
This is her giving her daddy a kiss for setting it up for her.
Then we sang Happy Birthday to her, which she has been waiting and waiting for. She would always walk around saying, "Brookin's Birdday...Happy, Happy"
Brett's parents had to leave early to attend the funeral as well, but we are gratful for such a wonderful family who came to celebrate this special time with us!
On TUESDAY night we dressed up and headed to Brett's parents ward Halloween Party/Trunk-r-Treat, which was way fun! We watched a glow-in-the-dark black light skeleton dance to the Thriller song, had a yummy dinner, Brooklyn got her nose and whiskers touched up and a flower painted on one hand and a spider painted on the other by a face painter, she did the "pumpkin walk" with Papa Mark and won a cookie then enjoyed a cupcake and a doughnut that Papa Mark so graciously let her have :) Her and I showed off our costumes on stage with all the other kids and some of their partents. Then we did a little bit of trunk-r-treating, which was her first time EVER. If we would have let her she would have been done after the very first piece of candy she got because all she wanted to do was open it and eat it. LOL
On WEDNESDAY, Brett had to work so I decided to take her to the library and to see the ducks at Lee's. She loved watching them waddle down the hill and jump into the water. Later that night we went to our ward's Trunk-r-treat where she was a little more used to the idea of opening her bag and letting them throw the candy in instead of wanting to eat it right away. She enjoyed seeing all the other kids in there costumes and we even found her soul mate...Mickey Mouse, who is her friend in nursery.
After the trunk-r-treat we went to my parents and had Tacos and handed out candy to the kids that came by.
On THURSDAY we went to the doctor for her 2 yr check up. He said she looked very healthy and that her percentages looked great. Brett and I couldn't be more happy to know that our child is healthy and happy and growing and developing properly!
Here are her percentages just for the record:
Wt: 24.6 lbs - 22%
Ht: 34.5 - 77%
HC: 47.5 - 59%
At this point Brooklyn is a great eater, there are only a handful of things she doesn't like. She's a great sleeper, going to bed between 8:30 and 9 and usually waking up between 8:30 and 9 with a 2 to 3 hour nap during the day, usually around 1. Anyone who knows her will say that she is busy busy and that she is timid around things that are unknown to her. She loves garbage day when she can watch the garbage truck out the window and loves seeing the kids get on and off the school bus. She is a great talker and repeats everything even if you say it under your breath :) She is so cute with little babies, I'm excited to see her with her new brother or sister!
