We were supposed to go with a friend who has a little boy who is about the same age as Brooklyn, but she unfortunately got sick last night and wasn't feeling up to going. The two of us went anyway and I am sooo glad we did! The weather was perfect and Brooklyn loved it!
I have to admit I was as excited as a little kid when we pulled up, I'm not sure if it was because I was excited for Brooklyn to see all the animals or if I was just plain excited to see the new Rocky Shores exhibit and baby giraffe... probably both :)
She LOVED every animal we saw, but I think her favorites were the seals and the polar bear...and the baby elephant.
This big guy was sooo awesome and even put on a show for the kids. He would do this routine over and over. I tried the best I could to get him on camera with all the kids hovering around the window.
WARNING: I forgot to stop the video towards the end so feel free to stop it when I start filming legs :)
Another one of her favorites was the merry-go-round. We rode it twice and she was very picky about which animal she wasnted to ride. The first time around we started off on the zebra and ended up on the polar bear and the second time she road the seal.
When we got back to the car I put her in her carseat and when I came back from putting the stroller in the trunk this is what I found, my little veterinarian.
Then...this is when my day got even better!
We were both so exhausted from our morning of fun, so when we got home I thought I would ask Brooklyn if she wanted to go to sleep in her bed or mommy's bed and she said mommy's bed. I then proceeded to tell her that if she was going to sleep in mommy's bed she had to go to sleep and not just jump.
For this next part it is important for you to understand that this may not be a big deal to some, but for us (me) it is HUGE! In her whole 2 year life she has NEVER slept in mommy and daddy's bed. When she was little it was because we never let her, but since she's been older she has never been able to sleep anywhere except for in her crib. Hmm, maybe we are the ones responsible for that:)
That being said, she let me tickle her back for a bit then she not only fell asleep, but she was cuddled up with me! Ahh, my heart melted and suddenly I wasn't tired anymore and just wanted to live in this moment forever!
I eventually fell asleep and when we woke up we watched "Ratatouille" then made pumpkin pancakes for dinner. And when Brett called, Brooklyn loved telling him about the merry-go-round, the polar bear, and the baby elephant.
Today was a GREAT day!!
